Today was a great day in Art History. Our morning lecture was a handling session. A woman from an antiques dealer came to class and showed us a ton of objects – all which we could touch! It was pretty cool. Everything from snuff boxes to carved wooden objects to ivory and jewelry. In the afternoon my class went to the Leighton House. Which was designed by artist Fredrick Leighton. Its tagline is “When East Meets West”. He had all these crazy rooms inspired by India, Turkey…it has an Arab Hall and is covered in tiles and mosaics. Very different!
I went out for a bit at night with Elizabeth back to Tonteria. I haven’t been there since before all my visitors! It was nice to hang out with her in a non school, non touristy kind of way. Those are the times when I feel like I’m actually living here and not only a visitor.
