London – Day 36

Yay for the weekend! This morning Anthony and I went to breakfast at a tea shop called Yumchaa. They are all loose tea based, and I had my first cup of tea since moving to London! It was a raspberry vanilla…sounds more like a delicious smoothie than a tea. We also ate a bacon, egg and tomato bagel sandwich and a piece of banana bread with Nutella! We then took the tube out to Arsenal! My first proper football game! We got to the stadium early to look around, and go into the team store. We each got a hat and a scarf. We had really great seats, right at the center mark. Even though we were high up, it was a great view to see everything. The whole experience was amazing. They scored really early on so that was super exciting! Then Aston Villa even the score and everyone was really mad. There was one guy in our section, old British man yelling constantly. My favorite thing he said was, “Wake up you Muppets!” I really love when they call each other muppets, it is pretty funny sounding and not something I am ever going to pick up. Arsenal finally scored again with less than 10 minutes to go and I felt like I wrenched my arm out of the socket I threw my hands up so fast celebrating with everyone. There were a few chants I caught onto, but I mostly enjoyed sitting back and listening. Arsenal has been Anthony’s favorite team for awhile (I have gifted him jerseys on two different Christmases, and he has quite a collection of other items as well), and this was his first in person game so I am happy I got to share in the experience. We got back home, and went out to pizza for dinner! He leaves early tomorrow to head home so we are staying in tonight and found a movie to watch on TV. It was been a really great week!

  1. If you haven’t done it, I recommend the tour of the stadium for Arsenal fans – you go into the locker rooms, press room, VIP section etc.. sit on the player seats on the pitch… it also includes admission to the Arsenal museum located at the north end – well worth a visit too.
