Today is also the 2nd day of Anthony’s visit!
I went to class this morning to learn about the Middle Eastern Art Market, and also watch the presentations for week two. I am glad I volunteered first for presentations and didn’t have to deal with it again. Anthony got a haircut and walked around the surrounding neighborhoods. My last class ended at 1:45 so we took advantage of my early day by going to the Tower of London! It is pretty impressive to see up close. I had no idea how big the whole Tower of London area is. It is almost like Disneyland…or more like Williamsburg. There are people dressed up that put on spontaneous shows, there is stanchions and a queue to get into the Crown Jewels and lots of kids running around. I loved it. Also, the ravens are huge! I think they are well fed by dropped popcorn and overstuffed trashcans by the end of the day. I don’t think they are going anywhere anytime soon, they have a pretty posh set up.
Afterwards we walked up to Spitalfields Market to browse in some shops, then walked down Brick Lane and looked at some of the art I saw on my street tour. Which, I was excited to see that the blank canvas has a brand new design on it! I am pretty sure it is not the same artist that does the explosion/jackhammering though. So maybe a new artist took the space before his fuse could create anything. Not sure, but it is awesome that each time you go to that area there is going to be a new piece of art work. One of the many reasons to go back. For dinner we ate some fish and chips! Then we stopped by a pub to watch the Arsenal and Bayern Munich game. Unfortunately Arsenal lost….but I hope that means they win on Saturday when we see them play! Fingers crossed.
