Today Anthony arrived! He took a red eye and called me when he arrived at the nearest tube station bright and early. We dropped his stuff off and headed out. We walked down through town all the way to Westminister Abbey, and actually went inside. I have been looking at it from the outside for awhile now, so it is nice to finally go in. It is quite packed in there with all the tombs and memorials and poets corner, but very cool to see. From there we crossed the bridge and walked down the South Bank all the way to Borough’s Market. We had lunch there at the Pieminister stall, which states that it is award winning and it was really delicious. I had a cheese pie and Anthony had a game pie. Both covered in gravy of course. After that we stopped into the Tate Modern, then walked back across the bridge around St Paul’s and back home. It really was a lot of walking, but that is the best way to see London.
Anthony napped for a while and then we went out to dinner at the Old Red Cow. It is a craft beer pub in Smithfield that was recommended to us by Josh Pendleton! It was pretty relaxed inside since it was a Monday night. Anthony had the special of a Pint and a Burger, and I had a steak with goose fat fries! It was really really delicious. I had a pint of the special craft beer by Arbor called Transpacific, it was a pretty perfect evening. Sometimes it is hard to believe that I am in a London pub having dinner on a normal Monday night in February. Life is good.
